Philippe Vandenberg

  • About
  • Philippe Vandenberg was a Belgian artist living and working at Ghent then Brussels, and represented by Hauser & Wirth in London.

Phillipe Vandenberg dreamed to become a writer and started studying literature before attending the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. Inspired by the colorful and characterful works of the artists Jerome Bosch and James Ensor, he became interested in Jackson Pollock, the New York Scene and the German New Fauves. He produced his most emblematic series « Kill Them All » when he moved from Ghent to Brussels, in Molenbeek. Between wealth and poverty, affluent and working districts, moderate and radical islam, this sensitive man draws with rage, a humanity in decline. An impressive production between poetry and politic that goes beyond the boundaries of a single neighborhood.
